Our Mission and Purpose: As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Thankofferings – Our History

Beginning in the late 19th century, Lutheran women were given small Thankoffering boxes to place in a special location in their homes as a visible reminder of blessings received. Women (you and me and our mothers and grandmothers) would add coins to those boxes almost daily as particular blessings were noted. From their use came the idea of an annual church service to celebrate their collection. Today, Women of the ELCA collects more than one million in Thankofferings annually for the ministries and mission of our women’s organization.
We no longer have the little boxes to hand out, but we encourage all women to find a jar or special container to continue this tradition. Thankofferings have always been, and still are, our opportunity to say thank you to God in both the significant and ordinary moments of the day! We will collect these gifts at a service in May. Last year we gathered almost $1,400.00. May you be blessed abundantly as you express your gratitude in this traditional way!

Prayer Shawl Knitters Wanted

We are a Bible Study group that likes to knit prayer shawls for those needing comfort.  We meet at various homes on the 2nd Saturday of each month.  If interested, contact Marilyn Klettenberg 732-9043.

Quilter’s Corner – Merry Christmas!

Christmas patterned quilts are now available in the office for purchase with minimum donation of $40 requested. These are very functional and can make a fun Christmas gift. It is a gift that pays forward as with that minumum donation, supplies needed for making mission quilts will cover the cost for at least five more quilts. All donations go directly to the quilting projects.
HELP, HELP, HELP! If you are someone who enjoys making the quilt tops, we are in dire need of tops. We only have enough on hand for about one more day of mission quilt assembling. Bundles of blocks for making tops are available outside the office in a laundry basket. All tops must be 60″x80″ to meet LWR standard size request. Thanks for your devotion in helping with the quilting project.
About 130 quilts will be delivered to Wadena the first week of December to be taken to LWR in Minneapolis.
With Christmas Day on a Monday, there will only be one quilting day in December. Monday, December 11th beginning at 9:00.
Mission quilting: “Tied in faith, sent in hope, wrapped in love.”
