A Message from Calvary Women in Ministry

World Day of Prayer

What a joy to be part of the gathering on March 1st at Summerfield Place! The room was filled to overflowing, and we were blessed by the many people who participated and shared their stories of faith. Thank you to our pianist, singers, speakers and coffee servers. Thank you to all who came to pray for each other, our community and the world!

It was a joy to be part of the WELCA Ash Wednesday soup supper crew! Thank you to all who brought goodies, served food, and helped clean up. Special thanks to our always dependable and capable dish washing guys!!We are blessed to work together in such a wonderful kitchen and to serve the Lord in this way.

We just received information about the 31st Annual Convention of the NW MN Synodical Women’s Organization. That’s us!! It will be held this year on September 20-21 at Luther Crest Bible Camp in Alexandria, MN. The theme this year is “LOVING the LEAST of THESE” and Matthew 25:40 is the theme verse. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these sisters and brothers of mine, you did for me!” Luther Crest is such a special place to celebrate women together, and it would be wonderful if you would consider joining us. Please pray about it, and plan now to attend. Lots more information will follow in the months to come.

At our annual convention we will honor a woman from each of our conferences with our Mary Magdalene Award. These women will be given a rose, a certificate, and a monetary donation to a charity associated with the Women of the ELCA. Do you know a woman who has been faithful to Jesus’ command to “GO and TELL”? Please nominate her for this award. This nomination needs to be sent by May 15. Contact Rachel or Dorothy for more information.
Happy Easter! He is Risen indeed!

Quilter’s Corner – April 2019

Happy spring! As we get the warming comfort that spring is here and winter behind us, it was good to hear from Lutheran World Relief where some of our last shipment of quilts has been delivered giving comfort to the recipients. In mid-December some of our quilts were tracked arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina. LWR’s partner in this project is International Orthodox Christian Charities. IOCC works on behalf of refugees, displaced persons, and those at risk all over the world. This shipment will serve an estimated 9,600 refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants as well as 2,400 vulnerable Bosnians in the Sarajevo and Bihac regions.
Please consider joining the mission quilting project at Calvary. As always, you only need to tie a knot to be able to help on these days. April days are Mondays, April 8th and 22nd beginning at 9:00 AM.
Mission quilting: “Tied in faith, sent in hope, wrapped in love.”
