Quilter’s Corner – December 2019 Merry Christmas!

Christmas Quilts For Sale! The past few months have been very busy at mission quilting as we have had record numbers of participants. Also, the response to needing more quilt tops sewn was immediate and needed. Thank you and please continue making tops as they are needed. Again as in the past several years, Christmas pattern quilts will be on sale in the office. If you are interested, please give the money to Amity who will credit it to the quilting account. We do ask for a minimum donation of $40. All money is used toward quilt supplies, primarily sheets for backs and batting for the filler. They cost about $8/quilt to produce.
We will be shipping quilts to LWR again the first week of December. The question of where the quilts go has been asked by new quilters. Our primary placement is with Lutheran World Relief which ships the quilts to partnering NGOs around the world where they are distributed to areas of need such as refugee camps, schools for children in remote areas where they live in dorms, hospitals, and poor regions where LWR is working to help families learn farming skills and self sustaining practices. We also give quilts to the senior graduates at Calvary and fundraisers for mission projects at church. Other churches in the area, as well as service organizations, and some quilting groups donate blankets and quilts to local causes and needs. Having the unique resource to send them to other countries without shipping costs (all donated by a local company to get ours to MPLS), we have maintained LWR as our primary recipient. Also, quilts are available for sale anytime if asked and again, the money raised goes back into supplies so we can continue the mission.
December quilting dates are Mondays, Dec. 9th and 23rd starting at 9:00 AM.
Mission quilting: “Tied in faith, sent in hope, wrapped in love.”
