A Message from Calvary Women in Ministry…

This summer Gather is excited to present a 3 session Bible study on the book of Esther by the Rev. Kay Ward, a bishop in the Moravian Church and author of Gather’s popular Bible Study, “In Good Company: Stories of biblical women.” Through the story of Esther, this bold biblical woman, we will learn how God is calling us to find and use our voices “for such a time as this.”
Session One: Esther the queen-voices in the king’s court. When Esther becomes the queen of Persia, her faith is tested. in this session we will think about how our culture may challenge our faith.
Session Two: Esther saves the Jews-Finding our voices. When the Jews are threatened, Esther uses her strong faith and love for her people to embolden her to act. Here we will consider how God reminds us that we need to find our voices as we live out our faith.
Session Three: Remembering Esther- Using our voices. The last chapters of the book of Esther are full of hope for the future for the Jews. As women of faith, full of love for God and others, we will consider ways to find and use our voices in our present circumstances-“for such a time as this.”

Be on the lookout for our August

“Summer Bible Study in the park on Esther”!

Quilter’s Corner – June 2019

Finally, we are again being wrapped in the warmth of spring turning to summer. It has been a feeling of warmth to receive another notification of personal care kits and quilts distribution. The online Tracker record shows that some were delivered to Syria. “LWR’s partner in Syria is Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
SARC has been serving the people of Syria since 1942 and is the primary on-the-ground partner for all United Nations agencies and most non-profit organizations active in the country during this time of rehabilitation and recovery. This shipment will serve an estimated 80,000 children and adults from East Gout who remain displaced in rural Damascus as a result of the ongoing conflict in the country.”
Our quilts are shipped with those of other contributing churches throughout the USA. Close to 500,000 quilts are shipped annually to a variety of locations as partnering organizations make their requests.
Here at Calvary, twenty-one senior graduates will also be receiving quilts from Calvary as they begin their journeys after high school. They are given with the hope that these students will always remember they are wrapped in love from their Calvary family.
June mission quilting days are Mondays, June 10th and 24th beginning at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome.
Mission quilting: “Tied in faith, sent in hope, wrapped in love.”
