Our Mission and Purpose: As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Quilter’s Corner – May 2021

Mission quilting days are the 2nd & 4th Mondays, starting at 9:00 AM.

Due to Covid-19, mission quilting at Calvary was halted from last March until March of this year. I am happy to report that monthly quilting is again happening at Calvary!

May dates are Mondays, May 10th and 24th beginning at 9:00 AM. As always, come and go as you wish. Some stay until about 1:30, bringing their own lunch. At this point, wearing masks is required.

Looking forward, the primary need is fabric donation for making quilt tops. At this point nearly all donated fabric has been cut and used for blocks to make into bundles for assembling tops. We are asking you to consider, especially if in the process of spring cleaning, to donate your fabric remnants. If you know someone who is a quilter, please suggest to them to consider donating their unwanted remnants to mission quilting. Please, do not bring in clothing. All fabric must be clean and in new to like-new condition. As always, cash donations are welcome and can be left at the church office. We need to purchase batting, fabric for quilt backs, sewing thread, and crochet thread, as well as, periodic sewing machine repair. Sheets of all sizes in like-new condition are welcome for backs or to cut into quilt blocks. We cannot use white or very light colors. Both flannel and cotton sheets are welcome. If you are shopping at Monica’s downtown, give her thanks for fabric she recently donated for our project.

At the May 9th church services, the quilts assembled since December by volunteers at home or at the last two months of group quilting at church, will be
blessed for shipment in June. As always, the quilts will be in the sanctuary by that weekend. Any of the quilts may be purchased with all money going directly into the quilt fund. A donation of $50 is asked. For that amount, you can count on the fact you are providing funds needed to assemble four more quilts for mission work throughout the world.

What a blessing this ministry has been to so many needing comfort! And it continues as several women continue to make shawls and bring them to the office for the pastor’s and others to give as needed. YOU can be a part of this too! Just pick up some yarn and start knitting or crocheting!
If you have questions, please contact Marilyn Klettenberg 218-732-9043.
